Be sure to select a planting site large enough to allow the tree to reach its mature size.
For trees in 5 gallon containers or smaller, dig a hole 3 times as wide as the container and slightly deeper. Larger trees should be planted in holes 12" wider than the rootball.
Loosen the soil removed from the hole and mix in tree and shrub food according to package directions.
Place tree in hole so top of rootball is equal to or slightly above ground.
Water deeply as soon as planting is complete.
Apply a 3-4" layer of mulch around tree.
Continue to water thoroughly at least once a week in dry weather, until plant is established.
